Job Description:
Lee Health is seeking a dedicated Child Life Specialist to join
our team in Southwest Florida, providing vital support to pediatric
patients and their families. As a key component of our healthcare
services, this position focuses on improving the emotional and
psychological well-being of children facing medical challenges. By
incorporating therapeutic play, education, and coping strategies,
our Child Life Specialists help facilitate a positive healthcare
experience for children in a hospital setting. This role is
instrumental in ensuring that pediatric healthcare at Lee Health
not only meets but exceeds the standards of child and
family-centered care. Develop and implement individualized care
plans that address the psychological and developmental needs of
pediatric patients. Educate children and their families about
medical procedures, condition management, and therapeutic
interventions in an age-appropriate manner. Utilize therapeutic
play techniques to reduce anxiety and help children cope with
hospitalization. Assess emotional, developmental, and social needs
of children to tailor interventions effectively. Collaborate with
healthcare professionals to provide holistic care that meets the
physical and emotional needs of children. Document patient
interactions, assessments, and outcomes to ensure continuity of
care. Engage in professional development opportunities to stay
informed about the latest practices in child life therapy.
Proficient in child development theories and practices Skilled in
therapeutic play techniques Strong communication skills for
interacting with children and families Ability to work
collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team Experience in crisis
intervention and behavioral management Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certified Child Life
Specialist (CCLS) credential required.
